Myton’s story

Posted on 30 March 2017  - 06:00

In the latest in a series of features celebrating a decade of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, we meet Myton, who was serving a custodial sentence before being referred to a mentoring programme designed to help reintegrate young offenders back into society.

The scheme sees a Foundation mentor make weekly visits to prisons for one-to-one sessions, offering careers advice and further mentoring upon release.

It helped Myton, 20, through a difficult period in his life and led to him finding an apprenticeship at a railway maintenance firm.

He said: “When I went to prison I was isolated and lost confidence, while my hopes of finding a career faded. My mentor, Kieran, was the one who stuck by me, helping me into my current role and thanks to Tottenham Hotspur I’m now looking forward to the future.”
