Luka Modric speaks exclusively about the moment he and his team-mates realized the dream of Champions League qualification that memorable night at Eastlands.
In an exclusive interview in the June issue of hotspur magazine, the Croatian says: "It was an unforgettable moment for every player, for the team, the squad, for everyone. I thought at the time ‘this is a big thing for us'."
Now the midfield maestro is relishing the chance to build on what has been a season to remember on the biggest stage.
He continues: "If we qualify for the group stages of the Champions League I'm sure this club will go onto another level. This club deserves to play football at that level.
"It was a fantastic season. I think right from the start we played very good football and in the end we finished in the Champions League, and that's a great achievement.
"We had a lot of injuries over the year but that didn't matter, whoever came in did very well. We have a great squad, a lot of good players in every position, in fact two players vying for every position.
"We've needed that as well because the season in England is long - two cups and the Premier League, and now we'll hopefully have the group stages of the Champions League next season to think about as well."
But before he looks ahead to next season, Luka admits he will be getting over the disappointment of not being involved in this summer's World Cup by cheering on his Spurs team-mates in South Africa!
He adds: "I hope Ledley will be there, Daws, Tom, Azza, Crouchy, JD. Because of them I would like to see England win or at least go far in the tournament. It's the same with Wilson and Honduras and Seb and Benoit with Cameroon. I'd love to see them all do well but I do think England have a good chance."
But the only place to read this interview in full is by picking up the June issue of hotspur, in stores now.
