Previous clubs: LASK Linz, 1. FC Köln.

Apart from training, what will you do on Christmas Day?
My family will come over to England and we’ll spend the afternoon and evening of Christmas Day together. Of course, in the morning we have our training session but then after that I’ll have some time to spend with them. I think it’s going to be very nice because Christmas in London looks like it'll be very beautiful. I went into the centre of London a couple of weeks ago and it was really nice to see all the lights. It was amazing – you can see what a beautiful city this is.

How does this differ from past Christmases for you?
Previously I would have some days off and go home to Linz in Austria. It would usually be three or four days before Christmas when I would go home and, after spending the first few days with my family and friends, I would then go on holiday for about a week from December 26 to a place where it's really good weather so you can go swimming and lay on the beach. Last year I went with two friends of mine to the Dominican Republic and we spent New Year's Eve there. The year before I went to Abu Dhabi and for me it was always best to go to places like that because I was able to relax a lot. But this year I'm looking forward to the games on December 26 and 28. It will be a special feeling to play on those days.

What is traditional at Christmas in Austria?
It's typical to eat bratwurst in Austria. It's quite easy to make and people really like to eat it on Christmas Day. It's also typical on December 25 or December 26 to eat turkey or duck. Previously with my family I’ve visited my aunts and uncles on Christmas morning and we would have raclette together with them for lunch with everything on a hot grill. Then in the evening we'd have dinner with my grandparents. My grandma would cook bratwurst and then she would ring a bell and it would be time for everybody to go into another room to open their presents! If you have small children you open your presents a little bit earlier, but most people do it in the evening after sitting together for dinner.

What is your favourite festive meal?
I really like duck at Christmas so I'll choose that!

What do you wish for at Christmas?
My biggest wish is that my family and I stay healthy. Another wish would be that everything at Spurs goes well this season. We're doing really well so far and hopefully we can continue this and do well over Christmas and into January.

What was your most memorable gift as a child?
Christmas Day was always something special as a child. There were a lot of things I received that were really good, but I think when I was maybe five or six years old I got a big electric train set which was one of my favourites. Then a few years later I got my first PlayStation which was special because I could play on it with my friends. That was a lot of fun.
