Michael Dawson was full of praise for Scott Parker after his team-mate helped England into the quarter-finals of Euro 2012.

The midfielder has started all three matches in the tournament and gave another all-action display in Tuesday’s 1-0 win against Ukraine.

That result and France’s 2-0 loss against Sweden handed England top spot in Group D and they now face Italy in Kiev on Sunday.

Scott’s performances come as no surprise to anyone at Spurs.

Joining us on transfer deadline day in the summer, Scott helped drive an unbeaten run in the Premier League until December, was voted Player of the Month four times by fans and eventually won a place in the PFA's Premier League Team of the Year.

He was also voted Player of the Year by One Hotspur Members and our Supporters Clubs.

“You know exactly what you get with Scotty,” said Michael, who might well have been in contention for the squad himself but for injury.

“He’s a fans favourite and gives 110 per cent every time he steps on the pitch.

“You need those players in the team and we saw it from Scott all last season at Tottenham. Now he’s doing it for England.

“He was outstanding for us and I’m delighted he’s doing so well in such a big tournament.”
