Outstanding against Liverpool on Saturday, the Belgian international is returning home with fellow compatriots Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen for our Europa League Group J encounter against the Brussels side. Our fourth Belgian, Nacer Chadli, misses out through injury.
Anderlecht pushed Arsenal all the way in the Champions League last season and Mousa knows all about the team beaten just once domestically so far this season.
“When they play against big teams Anderlecht are motivated and eager to show how good they are,” said Mousa. “And if they are motivated, they can win against any team. We will not underestimate them, for sure.
“They have players who want to do well against Premier League teams so it will be tough for us, but we can be confident and we need to try and win this game.”
Capped 62 times by the Red Devils, Mousa admits it’s a ‘strange feeling’ to go back to Belgium for a club fixture.
“It’s a long time since I played against a Belgian team,” he added. “It must be when I played for AZ Alkmaar against Standard Liege (UEFA Cup, 2009). Yes, it’s a bit of a strange feeling, but a nice feeling all the same.”
