Mousa Dembele said the team's display handed him the platform for such an impressive show in our 3-0 win against Stoke on Sunday.

Mousa and Paulinho pulled the strings from midfield and the Belgian capped his performance with a fine strike to make it 2-0 in the second half.

Roberto Soldado handed us the lead after 37 minutes and Aaron Lennon completed the scoring with a dipping volley as we made it seven points out of nine so far over the Festive period.

“The team was very organised so it was easier for me out there,” said Mousa. “Tactically we were good and everyone was on top of their game.

“We stayed on top of Stoke and kept playing our game and that was important.

“Paulinho is a great all-round player and I really enjoy playing alongside him. We’re very happy, everyone was outstanding.”

Mousa’s 20-yarder into the bottom corner was his first goal in the Premier League since his debut against Norwich City in September, 2012.

“It’s a long time since I scored in the Premier League, so I’m delighted,” he added. “I strive to score more goals.”
