The talented midfielder admits he was disappointed with his contribution last season with 40 appearances in all competitions and only 10 starts in the Premier League.
He started 2015-16 on the right foot by starting our narrow defeat at Old Trafford in Saturday’s Premier League opener.
“I’m happy I started and I just try to develop every time I play,” said Mousa. “I want to show everyone what I can do.
“I hope to fight for the team and that’s the first thing I’ll do, fight for the team and try to do what the manager asks of me.
“There is a good atmosphere in the team and I want to be part of that and prove that I can be important for this club.
“This season I want to be successful personally and with the team, which is most important.”
Mousa certainly wants to have more influence in forward areas. “I want to score goals and make goals,” he added.
“I’ve played a few games on the right now and I’ve been able to focus on being dangerous in front of goal and trying to do that more and more.
“The statistics will show that I need to score more goals so this is something I want to improve this season and show I can be more potent in front of goal.”
As for our narrow opening day defeat, Mousa said we should take heart from the performance at United.
“It was the first game of the season, it was a good performance and if we play like that against a lot of teams we’ll win the games,” he said. “Romero made some good saves and I’m sure United had respect for us after that.”
