The Belgian international returned to the side with another all-action display in midfield after missing last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, as well as our recent Europa League win over Monaco.
Quickfire goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli gave us a 2-0 win on the south coast, with Mousa claiming it was a job well done.
“It was a very important result because we know how difficult it is at Southampton,” he said.
“The first half was difficult for us, they played well. In the second half we fought with our hearts and it was a good team performance.
“We controlled it well and we were solid in midfield with Eric Dier in there. We knew it was going to be difficult here so it’s a special win for us.”
Our travelling supporters were in fine voice as usual at St Mary’s and Mousa thanked them for singing his name aloud both during and after what was a fantastic performance from the 28-year-old.
“It’s always nice to hear this – it’s special for me as well to hear that the fans are proud,” he added.
“I’m happy with the way I’m playing and it’s nice to play in this team, we play good football and everyone works hard for each other – that makes it easy to play in. We all enjoy it.”
