Mounir off to a flyer

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Mido and Mounir El Hamdaoui have played their first games for Spurs - Mounir bagging both goals in a private friendly win against Northampton Town on Wednesday.

The strikers were joined in a Spurs shirt for the first time by fellow new recruit Radek Cerny and the Czech goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in our 2-0 win at Spurs Lodge.

The first goal came after a scramble with Mounir on the spot to tuck the ball away from close range and the second a cool side-foot finish after Mark Yeates broke down the left and cut the ball back.

Development coach Clive Allen reported: "Obviously it was important for the new lads to get to know everyone, it's always difficult and with a free week for the reserves it was ideal to get a game in.

"Mido is strong, good touch for a big fella and he made some good flick-ons. He'll certainly be a valuable asset for us. He gives the option of the target man but also has subtle touches as well.

"Mounir looked sharp. I thought he made good runs, intelligent runs and my first impressions are good because he looks hungry for goals.

"He came here with a record for goalscoring and he's showed with the couple of opportunities he had that he knows where the back of the net.

"Radek's kicking was very good, he had little to do in terms of shots on goal but he was commanding and looked very confident.

"Northampton played in the right way, made it difficult for us and it was a good introduction for Mido and Mounir and also the lads who haven't played for a while to stretch their legs and get ready for match action again."
