Fredi Kanoute describes Michael Carrick as a player with a terrific vision of the game who will get better and better.
The Mali international knows the capabilities of the midfielder better than most with the pair having been teammates at West Ham for nearly three and a half years before linking up again at White Hart Lane.
Michael is really beginning to look the part in the heart of our midfield and won praise from all quarters for his display last time out in the 5-1 win over Southampton. Fredi feels that, with more belief in his own ability, the 23-year-old can go from strength to strength.
"He is a playmaker and, with a bit more confidence in himself, I think he will be a great, great player," insisted Fredi. "I think he can do even more.
"I remember at West Ham he used to give me a few assists because he has a fantastic vision of the game. I think it is important for us to have such a player."
The headline grabber against Southampton, Jermain Defoe, is another Fredi featured with at Upton Park and his description for him is a pretty obvious one.
"He is a goalscorer, I have known him for a long time and know he is always in a good position. He proves it again and again."
