"I thought I worked hard and I'll always give you that," he pondered. "I would maybe have liked to have got on the ball a little bit more from a personal point of view and maybe got a shot on goal.
"At the end of the day you do things for the team, we changed the formation to a diamond which meant there was a bit more covering ground. I don't mind as long as I'm in the team and helping it."
Covering ground is certainly what Michael did - often pressing the Newcastle players up by their own corner flag.
"I think that is what the gaffer has bought in. We've got youngsters in the side who cover a lot of ground and the work ethic has been great. I can see that everyone is going in the same direction and working hard for each other on the pitch."
Despite his almost ceaseless running, tackling and closing down against Newcastle on Sunday, Michael Brown was not totally content and still feels he can bring more to the team.
