Frank Arnesen and Clive Allen suspect there is much more to come from young striker Edson Silva as he becomes further accustomed to the rigours of English football.
Edson joined from PSV Eindhoven in the summer and is a player our Sporting Director knows very well with him having recruited the Cape Verde-born player for the Dutch outfit. The 21-year-old endured a frustrating time at PSV while waiting for his Portuguese passport and now has the opportunity to impress at Spurs.
He has been knocking in the goals in recent reserve outings, including a double strike in our last home game against Chelsea.
"He needs that and I knew he would," reasoned Frank. "I know him well and he has a lot of qualities and one of the things he has to deal with is the mentality of the game. He has to force himself every minute of every game and in training to give everything.
"All of us can see he has got a lot of skills, he is a big fella who has a tremendous touch with his left foot and is useful in the air as well.
"It is more or less about him coming in and giving everything every time to develop. He is going little by little and it will be interesting in the next couple of months how he comes along."
Development Coach Clive was certainly singing from a similar songsheet when he added his assessment of Eddie's progress.
"He looks comfortable, at times his touch and movement was excellent. The one thing I have said to him is that he needs to get in the box on the end of those chances.
"He has a lovely touch for a big lad, he is obviously very capable in the air with the right sort of service. He is naturally left sided, which is unusual in front players, so it gives us good balance."
