MLS All-Stars vs Spurs - Mauricio's preview

Posted on 29 July 2015  - 18:00

Mauricio Pochettino sees the MLS All-Star Game as a key stepping stone on our pre-season path that leads to Old Trafford on August 8.

Our Premier League opener against Manchester United is looming large and we now have three high-profile friendly matches before the big kick-off.

It all kicks-off in the early hours of Thursday morning UK time (2.15am UK; 7.15pm Wednesday in Colorado) as we take our place in the MLS’s showpiece match.

We then travel to Munich and the Audi Cup where we’ll face Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday (August 4) and either hosts Bayern Munich or AC Milan on the Wednesday.

First up we take on some of the greats of the game including Kaka and David Villa at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

“We know we’re up against some very good players, big stars in the MLS and the world like Kaka and this is a good test for us,” said Head Coach Mauricio.

“It’s important for our preparations (as we aim) to arrive at Manchester United at a great level.

“We have worked very hard in the last three weeks and expect all players to be involved in this game.”

Mauricio reiterated was a ‘big honour’ it was for the club to take part in the MLS All-Star Game – and was quick to praise our fans.

“It was good to be here last pre-season and our fans were unbelievable in Seattle, Toronto and Chicago,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for us and one to share with our fans.”
