Taking place in the shadow of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the venue for tonight’s MLS All-Stars match, fan groups from across the United States convened to take part in the Tottenham Hotspur Challenge Cup.
A handful of guest teams were also invited to join in with one of those sides, Colorado-based FC Boulder, beating fellow guests Under Armour to be declared the champions.
But in true sporting fashion, their players decided to donate the trophy to San Diego Spurs, who finished as the highest-ranked Supporters’ Club having beaten Colorado Spurs in the third-place play-off.
The competition began with a group stage and featured eight-minute games. Group A comprised Arizona Spurs, East Fishkill Spurs and San Diego Spurs along with guest sides FC Boulder and Iron Five, while Group B was contested by Dallas Spurs, Austin Spurs, Atlanta Spurs, Colorado Spurs and guest side Under Armour.
Club Ambassador and legendary former defender Ledley King was in attendance to meet and greet the participants and to present the trophies and medals to the winning players afterwards.
