Lars Hirschfeld went through the full range of goalkeeping emotions in his return to competitive action for the reserves at Ipswich Town.
The Canadian international allowed Nabil Abidallah's shot to squirm past him for Ipswich's opener but then crucially saved Dean Bowditch's penalty in the second half as we won 3-2 at Portman Road.
"I was trying to cheat a little bit," said Lars of Abidallah's goal. " I was looking for a cross, but instead he hit it, it swerved, hit my thumb and ended up in the back of the net. Pretty ugly. It wasn't the ideal way to come back.
"You have to forget these things. You have to shake them off or they can affect you.
"Things got a lot better during the game. I pulled myself together and we played well and deserved to win.
"You have to be strong. It's been six months for me and I'm sure I'll have to play a few more games to get back to where I want to be."
