Mauricio Taricco suspects football has not seen the last of his great friend Gus Poyet.
The Uruguayan midfielder departed at the end of the season following a three-year stint at the club, a spell during which Gus and Tano were pretty much inseperable. The famous Poyet grin and spring in the step will be no longer at Spurs Lodge and the remaining half of the double act admits he will miss his sidekick.
"We are going to miss him," smiled the full-back. "Unfortunately, it is the nature of football and you just have to get on with it.
"He is a really good friend, I don't see him anymore as another colleague - he is a friend and we will keep in touch and see each other in the future. I am sure he will do good."
A switch to the Qatar league was mentioned as a possibility for Gus and Mauricio feels a continuation of his long playing career is the more likely option.
"He loves football, absolutely loves football and is mad about it. His life is - or was - about football. I am not sure what is going to happen in the future for him football-wise, but he will be a success at whatever he does.
"It is hard to imagine him without football and, whichever road he takes, I hope things work out for him."
