The Egyptian striker grabbed the crucial opening goal in Saturday's 2-0 victory against Everton with a superb header from Jermaine Jenas' cross.
He then played a key role in the second and decisive goal, flicking on Paul Robinson's clearance to Jermain Defoe who in turn crossed for JJ to nod home the second. The win took us into second place in the Premiership.
Mido's third goal of the season was his first with his head and Head Coach Martin believes it's a strength that we've underplayed so far - but he's looking to put that right.
"Mido is important for us," said Martin. "He's involved in 50 per cent of our goals with assists.
If Mido gets crosses, you will all see he's one of the best in Europe because he's a very good finisher with his head
"He just hasn't had that many crosses this season and we're working on that. There are a lot of things we can improve on "
Meanwhile, Martin was happy to talk about what exactly impresses him about Mido.
"He is 22 years of age - everyone thinks he's 28 or something like that!" he added.
"He's very young but what I like about him is his mentality during games. Even when he's losing headers or losing possession because of a bad touch his mentality remains 100 per cent."
Martin Jol is convinced Mido will deliver - as long as we continue to deliver crosses to him!
