Rovers arrived at the Lane just three points behind us having won seven of their last 10 games and the pressure was on with Arsenal beating Fulham so convincingly on Saturday. It was also a chance to capitalise on Bolton's defeat at Newcastle.
Things looked to be going to plan when Robbie Keane swept us into a 2-0 lead but Rovers hit back just before the interval and took that impetus into the second half. They dominated the first 20 minutes after the break and levelled through Craig Bellamy.
Thankfully, we hit back straight away and Mido was on the spot to convert Aaron Lennon's cross for the winner.
"For me, this was a vital win," reflected Mido back at Spurs Lodge - and he gave three reasons why. "First of all because Blackburn were only three points behind us and now we have opened a gap again.
"The second reason was because in the last four or five games we've had a bit of a dip in results, it's been a difficult period and we had to step up again and win this game.
"Thirdly, Blackburn are a very good team and a difficult team to beat. I said before it was very important and it was a great win for us.
"We showed great mentality with how we reacted after we conceded the second goal.
"I think they are two of the most important things in football - spirit and mentality - and we have a very good mentality in the team."
Mido believes Sunday's victory against Blackburn was one of the most important of the season.
