The striker picked up a groin injury in Egypt's final group match against the Ivory Coast last week and couldn't recover in time to take his place in the quarter-final against DR Congo.
His side went on to win the last eight clash 4-1 and Mido will now aim to be fit for Tuesday's semi-final against Senegal.
Martin Jol gave an update on Mido's injury at Spurs Lodge on Friday. "Mido's a strong lad and normally he's injured for a week or 10 days and he will be fine but I can't speculate on a groin injury," he said.
"I've spoken to him regularly and he said it's exciting out there especially because they are the host country but he's also watched our matches as well."
Mido had to sit it out as Egypt sailed into the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations on Friday.
