Mido picked up a groin injury as Egypt made it through to the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations on Saturday.

The striker limped out of the action after just 23 minutes of Egypt's final group game against Ivory Coast.

The host nation won 3-1 without him to progress to the last eight in front of a delirious 74,000 sell-out in the Cairo International Stadium.

The result saw Egypt through to the knockout stage as group winners but meant the end of the tournament for Noureddine Naybet and Morocco - they needed Egypt to lose to have any chance of progressing but failed to beat their final group opponents Libya anyway, that match ended in a goalless draw.
