Mido returned to international action with a goal as Egypt ran out 4-1 winners over Libya in World Cup qualifiying.
In what is a closely contested African zone Group Three - that also contains Thimothee Atouba's Cameroon - Egypt moved above Libya to third place in the standings on goal difference with 10 points from six games behind Ivory Coast on 15 and Cameroon who have 11. Only one team from each African group qualifies for the finals in Germany.
Egypt fell behind on 52 minutes with Mido then sparking his team into a strong response with his leveller just three minutes later.
Cameroon - with Atouba featuring for 72 minutes - stayed in contention with a 2-1 home win over Sudan.
In Group Five, Noureddine Naybet's Morocco remained on course for the finals with a 1-0 home win over Guinea and lead the way with 12 points from six games.
Mali's qualifier at home to Togo in Group One was abandoned on Sunday night following a 90th minute goal from the visiting side. Mali - featuring Fredi Kanoute in attack - had been 1-0 up in the contest before conceding an 83rd-minute equaliser.
