Fans had been queuing since six o'clock in the afternoon to be the first in the world to get their hands on the new white PUMA shirt and once the doors of the Megastore opened at one minute past midnight, the shirts flew off the shelves.
Over 350 people came through the store in the first hour. Fans were entertained by our freestyler, Billy Wingrove's amazing football tricks and for all those tiring during the odd shopping hours, fans could comfort themselves with the fact that every new shirt purchased came with a free sandwich and a cup of tea.
Even Chirpy popped along to entertain the younger fans - some of whom were still in their pyjamas!
"The atmosphere was exceptional, really good fun," explained Victoria Howarth, Head of Retail. "We wanted fans that were there to feel part of something a bit special and I think that everyone there will remember the night."
