Max head power!

Paul Miller did not score too many goals in his Spurs career. But the header he powered into the Anderlecht net in the first leg of the 1984 UEFA Cup was obviously crucial in our success that year.

The big centre-half understandably looks back on that tie with great satisfaction, having played such a major role in that triumph. But he had his doubts in that first leg as we missed chance after chance.

Speaking in the December issue of hotspur, our bright, new-look official magazine, Miller praises the strength shown on the night by his co-defenders Graham Roberts, Chris Hughton and Danny Thomas which provided the platform for our ultimate victory.

"Looking back, it was a wonderful evening," said Maxie. "We had fantastic support from the Spurs fans behind the goal who made it feel like a home game for us...if we had won 3-0 Anderlecht could not have complained."
