It’s just over a week until we travel to St James Park for the opener on Sunday 13 August (1.30pm) and preparations are in overdrive both at Hotspur Way and in terms of this friendly against Juve, who have won Serie A for six-successive seasons.
Following matches against PSG, Roma and Manchester City in our tour of the USA, Mauricio is looking forward to a big final friendly test before the real thing begins.
“This big game arrives at a good moment for us,” said Mauricio. “We’re nearly a week back here (at Hotspur Way) after the tour, everything is settled and now we start to mark our level for the start of the Premier League season at Newcastle.
“The challenge and objective is to arrive in our best condition at Newcastle and that’s why the last game of pre-season is so important, at Wembley, our home for next season. It’s important to play well and to find our feelings and emotions.
“It’s always difficult to gauge everything but in the last week you start to feel different. The season is coming, the start of the Premier League is close and the players start to feel that. You see everything start to change now.”

Mauricio will face familiar foe at Wembley with Argentine stars Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala set to feature for Juventus.
“They are great players, I know them well,” he added. “It’s exciting to play against them and to compete against one of the best teams in Europe.
“I think it will an exciting game and a good opportunity to play against such a big team at Wembley. It’s true it will be a tough game but it’s important before the start of competition to measure your level against a team like Juventus.”
