In the third match of our FA Cup-Premier League-FA Cup trilogy against the Foxes, we once again had the best of the action but this time scored the goals our play warranted to progress comfortably into round four.
We now travel to Colchester United of League One on Saturday, January 30 with a 12.45pm kick-off and the game televised live on BT Sports. It will be the first time we’ve played the U’s competitively.
Back to the King Power and a crackerjack opener from Heung-Min Son just before half-time paved the way for the victory secured by Nacer Chadli’s clinical finish for 2-0 in the second half.
“It was an excellent performance and I’m very happy,” said Mauricio. “It was a fantastic game and I’m pleased for all the players. We scored in the key moments, dominated and managed the game.

“I’m very pleased for Sonny, Nacer, Michel Vorm and for all the players who haven’t played consistently in the starting 11 because this is the way try to achieve important things at the end of the season.
“It’s not about 11 players, it’s about the squad, about 24, 25 players. We can feel proud because we showed we have a strong squad and we need to keep working hard.”
Mauricio made a point of going over to thank our excellent travelling support – over 3,000 made their way to the KP for a match televised live on BBC.
“The fans were fantastic and we’re very grateful for their support,” added Mauricio. “It’s a Wednesday night, the game was live on TV and so I can only say ‘thank-you’ to them all. They helped us get through to the next round and we will keeping working hard to make them feel proud of us.”
