“We had the shots, 11 corners, 75% possession, everything,” said Mauricio. “We played well, created chances, dominated the game, but that’s football.
“To win you have to be effective and clinical in front of goal and we weren’t. I thought the team was good, the effort was fantastic and the only disappointment was the result.
“The performance was good but we’re sad because we dropped two points.”
What did he say to the players afterwards? “When you try, I can say nothing but congratulate the players because the effort was fantastic.
“Tomorrow we train and we keep going. It’s only early in the season and we need to stay calm and try to win the next game.”
That game is against Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Tuesday night.
