Tomorrow’s (Saturday, February 6) Premier League clash kicks off a spell of eight games in 29 days in all three competitions including home and away legs against Fiorentina in the Europa League and Palace (date still TBC) in the FA Cup. The run also includes City in the Premier League ends with West Ham and Arsenal back-to-back in first week of March.

“We have the quality and a strong enough squad to compete in the different competitions,” said Mauricio. “That’s important because everyone feels part of the team.”

Here is Mauricio’s round-up as he prepares the squad for Watford at the Lane…

How are the players after the win at Norwich?
Mauricio:
“We keep going. We cannot stop because this is another tough game for us against Watford. I think we will arrive at the game in good condition to compete again. Everyone is okay after the win on Tuesday against Norwich. We need to improve in different areas but we will be ready.”

It has been and remains a busy schedule, every player is playing his part…
Mauricio: “It’s very important to be all together and that the team feels everyone can play. This is the most important thing. This was our objective from the beginning of the season and we can say today that everyone feels part of the team.”

Kevin Wimmer is a perfect example of that…
Mauricio: “This is how we try to work. For the player, sometimes it’s tough to wait for an opportunity but Kevin is a very good example. He played like a player who has been here for a long time. This is important for the squad to able to trust in every player.”

Mauricio speaks to Spurs TV

What are your thoughts on Watford?
Mauricio: “They have good players and a strong team. So far, they’ve had a fantastic season. We expect a very tough game. It’s always difficult to play them. It’s important for us to be careful and to be focused. They have a good squad, not just Ighalo and Deeney, they are a tough team to play against but I always say the same, it’s important to look at ourselves and for us to try to perform as well as we can to win the three points.”

Are you good friends with Quique Sanchez Flores at Watford?
Mauricio: “Yes, I know Quique well and he’s done a fantastic job at Watford. We wish him all the best. It’s true, we’ll have a tough game on Saturday.”

There was good news this week with a new deal for Josh Onomah. Is he a player you’ve been impressed with?
Mauricio: “It’s very good news for us. He’s an important player for us in the present and in the future. We are all happy.”

Finally, it was noticeable again that you went over to our fans after the win at Norwich…
Mauricio: “They are fantastic. They always try to help us. It’s tough to travel to Norwich on a Tuesday night and it’s always good to say ‘thank-you’ to them because they are a very important part of the club. They are a key part of the club and it’s important to have a good relationship.”
