Our current run of 11 straight home wins goes back to October and includes a 5-0 win against Swansea, 3-0 against Hull and 4-0s against West Brom, Stoke and Watford, the latest last weekend. That was also our sixth win on the spin in the Premier League.
“We have to take the next game like it’s a final, forget the past and focus on the present,” said Mauricio.
“That is our principle thing to do, to live in the present. The past is okay, but we have to show we deserve to win and to do that we need to show character, personality, to run, to play football and enjoy - all the things that are important in football.
“That, for me, is the biggest challenge, to demonstrate and show in every single game that we deserve to win.
“For that, we must show concentration, focus and try to play well. That is our challenge, to forget what happened before because we can’t win with history. We can only win if we deserve to win and we’re better than our opponents.”
Bournemouth have taken points at United and Liverpool and provide our next challenge in Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off.
“It’s a team that is brave playing away, they press high and try to play in a good way, a good philosophy, on the grass,” added Mauricio. “They are aggressive as a team with good players and a very clear plan. That’s what makes it a difficult game.
“All teams (in the Premier League) are capable of winning, all teams have a risk and we have to arrive ready, fight, play football, play in our way, score goals and try to win the game.”
