Bournemouth v Spurs - Mauricio's preview

Sat 10 March 2018, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Focus is now fully on Sunday's trip to the south coast - and Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of the job Eddie Howe has done at Bournemouth.

Now in their third season in the Premier League, the Cherries are on a run of one defeat in 10 including high-profile wins against Arsenal and a 3-0 success against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"It’s always difficult to play against Bournemouth, a team that plays so well," said Mauricio. "They were capable of beating Chelsea away. It's a team that is very competitive. Eddie is doing a fantastic job there."

Talk earlier in the week was how the players would recover and respond from the disappointment of bowing out of the Champions League despite playing so well against Juventus over two legs.

"Our disappointment was big, yes, but now we need to stop because the competition doesn’t wait for you," added Mauricio.

"We need to assess our players after a massive effort and see how they react and in the end, pick the best players to be competitive on Sunday.

"We’re in a position where we need to believe that we can finish in the top four and this is a massive three points for us.

"It will be tough but we need to be ready to compete."
