The young midfielder has made a huge success of his change in position to earn a place in the senior England squad for the first time.
Eric made his mark in his first season with us with 36 appearances in all competition in either a central defensive or right-back role last term.
Mauricio switched him to the holding role in midfield in pre-season and Eric has been a revelation starting 15 or our 16 games so far.
His performances have caught the eye of Roy Hodgson who has named him in the England squad for friendlies against Spain in Alicante on November 13 and France at Wembley on November 17.
“I’m very pleased for him, he deserves it,” said Mauricio of the 21-year-old.
“His team-mates and everyone at the club congratulate him because from the beginning of the season he’s showed a fantastic character and had some fantastic performances.

“The mentality he has is to always help the team and he’s a fantastic professional.
“He’s one of the players who can be a great example to all.”
