Matty joined us from Peterborough the season before last along with Simon Davies as an 18-year-old and has, and continues, to learn his trade and hone his game in our reserve side, while benching and occasionally appearing for the first team.
A return to London Road looks on the cards for Matt and while the faces may have changed, his old boss Barry Fry is still very much at large.
"I think I will be going so I'm looking forward to that," said Matt. "I missed the chance of going back last pre-season because I was injured so it should be good.
"Most of the team has changed to be honest, I know some of young lads, but the majority has changed in the two years since I was there.
"I still know the boss, I know him well and he phones me every now and again."
So will Matt show the Peterborough public that his game has come on since arriving at the Lane?
"Definitely. I've improved a hell of a lot since I moved from Peterborough, without a shadow of a doubt. I am a better player there is no doubt in my mind about that. I was still young when I left, just turned 18, having made my debut there at 15.
"I've come on leaps and bounds and I'm getting stronger and fitter."
