Matty gets under-21 call

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Matthew Etherington has been called into the England under-21 squad to face Macedonia in a European Championship qualifier to be staged at Reading FC.

The game takes place at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday 15th October with an 8pm kick-off. Tickets for the fixture, costing £10 for adults (children and OAPs £5) if booked in advance, can be obtained by calling the ticket hotline on 0118 968 1000. Tickets cost £12/£7 if purchased on the night.

Before this home fixture, England face an away qualifier against Slovakia on October 11.

Matty is one of 11 Spurs players so far who are on national service during the forthcoming international period. The Republic of Ireland and England have yet to name their squads.

Goran Bunjevcevic has been called up by Yugoslavia for their Euro 2004 qualifiers against Italy and Finland and Milenko Acimovic has been named by Slovenia for their game against world champions France.

Simon Davies is in the Wales squad for their eagerly awaited home qualfier against Italy on October 16, while Sergei Rebrov will be on duty for the Ukraine, Steffen Iversen for Norway and Jonathan Blondel for Belgium.

Lars Hirschfeld will play for Canada in their away friendly against Scotland, but will miss the chance to face Neil Sullivan due to the Scotland No.1's thumb injury.

Ben Bowditch and Marcel McKie have been named in the England under-19 squad for the friendly match against Yugoslavia, while Mark Hughes will join up with the Republic of Ireland under-21 squad to play Spain and the Ukraine.
