Pat Holland was delighted with this point against a Saints side who have made an impressive start to the season.

Mark Yeates (pictured) marked his return from injury with the equaliser, capping a fine display from both him and the lads.

Coach Pat reported: "Southampton had won five out of their six games and came here undefeated, so they were a strong side and it was an excellent game.

"If any neutrals were here and watched the game I'm sure they would have been impressed with the spirit of both sides.

"We went a goal down early on, a defensive error allowing the Southampton forward through on goal. That was after about four minutes and a setback that early, especially with the reputation Southampton have.

"But the lads rolled their sleeves up and by the end of the first half I thought we were slightly unfortunate not to be back in it.

"Having said that, you could see if they got their heads down and worked properly there would always be an opportunity to get back into the game.

"We came out in the second half, passed the ball well and got an excellent goal back from Mark Yeates, who played well throughout.

"The general team play was very good and I was very pleased with them.

"In the end it was 1-1 and I think we were unlucky not to sneak it but it was great to see two young teams play so well."
