FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE
Spurs U17s 2-0 Arsenal
Jimmy Neighbour was delighted with the response of his side after a difficult couple of weeks.
The lads lost 7-4 at Coventry and 6-0 to Aston Villa but returned to form in style to topple the Gunners with a double from Andy Barcham (pictured).
Coach Jimmy takes up the story. "It was a great result. They played really, really well and when you look at the week before, particularly defensively and then look on Saturday, forget the result, they were terrific. I'm delighted with them.
"Pat Holland took a great decision and gave me a couple of the lads who had moved up to him and that helped us tremendously.
"Phil Ifil came into the back four which helped tighten us up, Jamie O'Hara came into midfield and that helped us keep the ball a lot better and create more chances and Andy Barcham up front, who scored the two goals.
"It was goalless at half-time. We had by far the better chances and were the better side in the first half, some of our passing and movement was very good.
"The first goal came from Andy Barcham after Jamie O'Hara made a great run to the byline, cut it back and Andy was there to score. The second goal was another great build up and Andy was in there again to stick it in the corner. Both goals were good goals, difficult in that there were bodies in the way but Andy took them well and that shows a good eye for goal.
"The lads have showed a lot of character after the last couple of weeks. Their heads went down last week and that was something we spoke about last week, if we gave a goal away keep the heads up, keep fighting and play to their potential. They did that, started well and contined for the 90 minutes.
"The whole thing was good - passing, movement, team play and most people here said it was a great game to watch."
