U18 Academy North

Crystal Palace 0-1 Spurs

Pat Holland reckoned his U19s just about deserved to take maximum points against Palace.

Mark Yeates (pictured) grabbed the winner from the spot having been brought down himself in the area in the second half.

Coach Pat reported: "It was a very competitive game, both sides committed and I thought the referee did very well. There were a couple of challenges from both sides but he just had a quiet word with the players.

"It wasn't the best of surfaces, quite bumpy so at times the quality was a little disappointing but both sides tried to play.

"It was 0-0 at half-time and that was a general reflection of the game.

"We had to kick up a slope in the second half and I thought that might be a problem but fairness we had our better spells in the second half.

"We got a goal after about 70 minutes, nice but of individual skill in the box from Mark Yeates, got brought down for a penalty, got up and converted it.

"We had one or two decent chances but Palace made some changes and looked brighter. In the end we held on and that was just about the right result."

Spurs: Eyre, Watson, Francis, Hicks, Foster (Barnett, 70), Dobson, McKenna, Wettner, Malcolm, Yeates, Price. Unused subs: Black, Jenkins, Thyer, Hodges.
