Match Night Fun for Students

Posted on 25 October 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Around 35 students from the Study Support Centre enjoyed watching our 1-0 Worthington Cup win over Cardiff City on October 2. The lucky youngsters came from St Thomas More RC Secondary School, Broadwater Farm Primary and White Hart Lane Secondary School and all are currently attending the Study Support Centre after school. For most students, this was the first live match they had ever attended but they wasted no time getting involved with the chanting and singing. All enjoyed watching new signing Robbie Keane and team favourites such as Teddy Sheringham and Simon Davies. Thanks to the club for giving them such an enjoyable evening.

New Faces at Study Support Centre
Our team of mentors has grown by three and we are delighted to welcome Fabian Robertson, Paul Coates and Nicola Bliss to the Study Support Centre. Mentors play a key role at the centre, working closely with the students, monitoring their progress and escorting them to and from school. All three new mentors work with young people outside the Study Centre: Fabian is studying for a BTEC in mentoring, Paul is a Sports Development Officer in Enfield and Nicola will be taking up a place at teacher training college next September. We look forward to profiling them in more detail later in the season.

Sixth Form Volunteers Join Team
In addition to our regular mentors, we work with White Hart Lane School as part of their Community Programme. This year, three Year 12 students will be giving up two hours a week to volunteer at the Study Support Centre. All three boys are ardent football fans and are looking forward to working here at the Lane. The community partnership with the school started last year and we have since been able to employ one volunteer on a paid basis as a result of the scheme.
