The midfielder told tottenhamhotspur.com about the moment he received his call
earlier in the week.
Since then, he’s hooked up with Roy Hodgson’s squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley tonight (Friday, March 27) and next Tuesday’s (March 31) friendly against Italy in Turin.
Ryan made his Premier League debut for us in September and now has 23 appearances - including 22 starts - to his name.
He puts his rapid progress down to the belief shown in him by Mauricio.
“He’s definitely helped me because he is a great man-manager who cares about his players and his team,” said Ryan. “He has brought a winning mentality to the club and hopefully we can all keep building towards a bright future.
“We have a young, energetic side at the moment and if we can stick together, keep progressing over the next few years the way we have done this season, then I’m sure we will get a lot stronger as a team.”
