Club Ambassador Gary Mabbutt this week represented Tottenham Hotspur at the opening of the Lee Valley White Water Centre – the only brand new London 2012 venue to open to the public ahead of next summer’s Games.
Our legendary former captain took to the Olympic course in a raft alongside sporting heroes, such as former sprinters Derek Redmond and Darren Braithwaite, rowers Sarah Winkless and Elise Laverick, and Paralympians Jody Cundy and Danny Crates.
They took on a team of Saracens RFC rugby players in a race down the rapids – and as of Good Friday, the centre opens its doors to the community, giving the public the chance to take part in the fun!
Tottenham Hotspur works in partnership with Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and Enfield Council in the delivery of a Section 106 agreement with the London Borough of Enfield.
The relationship sees the three organisations working together to deliver sport and community programmes aimed at benefitting the lives of people within the local community.
It highlights Tottenham Hotspur’s commitment of £2.3m to community sport and physical activity over the next 10 years to the London Borough of Enfield, the home of our new training centre at Bull’s Cross.
