Gary Mabbutt has joined the Club in appealing to fans to help Durants School in Enfield in their bid for funding from The Jubilee People’s Millions.
The Jubilee People's Millions is a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund, in partnership with ITV.
Durants School, which caters especially for children with Autism and other complex needs, is pitching for funding to renovate part of the school grounds into a sensory garden for its pupils.
Our legendary former skipper 'Mabbsy' who, on behalf of the Club, joined students, parents and teachers in the appeal said: "It’s important we support our local community, the Durants School is a short distance away from the Club’s new training facility and they have a real need for this garden.
"It would make a monumental difference to the lives of the children attending this school and it’s something that we can all help make happen - so I’m hoping our fans will watch the programme and vote for this worthy cause."
Eddi Banks who is leading the project said: "We have an opportunity to transform an overgrown piece of land into a sensory and social garden for the children and their families.
"The space will enable families to come together in a safe and secure environment without the child with special needs being excluded from other children.
"Socialising is something we all take for granted but many of our families feel very isolated and the garden will help change this.”
The Club already has a relationship with the school through the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which has seen the Foundation provide pupils with life skills workshops.
