Glenn Hoddle says that OJ Mabizela is going through a period of adjustment before he is introduced into first team football.
The South African international central defender is currently finding his feet in English football by featuring for Colin Calderwood's reserve side and is quickly adapting to the different pace and slightly frenetic nature of the game here.
"He's getting closer - we're watching him all the time," reported Glenn. "I'm pleased with what I've seen from him so far in training and reserve games.
"That is where we can judge him at the moment, whether he is quite ready yet is a delicate one - we've got other players here who have got more experience of the Premiership.
"He's doing very well, we sat him down and he knows there is going to be a period of adjustment that is going to take a little bit of time.
"He is just 23, a young lad and he's only been playing at the top level in South Africa for two years - an incredible story.
"We always knew he was going to take a little time to bed in, but he is doing very well."
