Luke Young is after revenge at Maine Road on Saturday.
The versatile defender/midfielder was in the team frustrated by City in a 0-0 draw at the Lane back in September.
Young, back in the side at left wing-back at Charlton on Wednesday, insisted: “We should have beaten them at home, had loads of chances but couldn’t finish them off.
“We deserved the three points then and we’ll be looking to put one over on them at their own ground.
“I’m sure it will be a scrap to start with. They need as many points as possible, especially at home and we’ll want to put our record straight away from home.”
England Under-21 star Young also believes the thrilling FA Cup win at The Valley can lift us to another level.
“It definitely can act as a spur for the rest of the season,” he said. “We needed something away from home to pick the spirits up and the dressing room was buzzing afterwards, all the lads were together and it could be just the thing we needed.
“We fancy our chances now against City and winning at Charlton will push on us on further.
“At times it hasn’t been the prettiest football and we’ll admit that ourselves but if you are not conceding goals you have a chance to win games.
“If we’d have scored a few at the other end we’d have won a lot more points. Keep them out at the back though and you’ve always got a chance.”
