Luke makes League point

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Luke Young insists that one of the many positives to be taken from the Upton Park triumph must be to use the result as a springboard for improved league form — and he believes that the squad’s excellent team spirit is the key to unlocking Premiership points.

"There is no reason why we can’t start climbing up the league,” pointed out Luke. “Our team spirit at West Ham was top class, at half-time we all gee’d each other up and said ‘we can win this’”.
Luke turned in an impressive performance in the unfamiliar position of left wing-back — and nearly added his name to the scoresheet, a deft header that clipped the post being his closest effort.
“I headed it and didn’t really know what happened after that because I went backwards but as I turned around I saw it clip the post. I thought ‘I’ve hit the bar and the post at that end now — it doesn’t look like it’s going to be my end’.
“It was an amazing game. We were 1-0 up and then let them back into it just before half-time which changed the tide a bit but we went at them at the start of the second half and in the end it paid off.”
Luke is one of many to have endured a spell out with injury during this campaign — a broken foot the most serious — but he has now put together a run of games that suggests he is prominent in the manager’s thoughts.
“I’m there now,” he confirmed, without wanting to look too far ahead at the upcoming challenges. “You need match fitness but it’s games you really need. You can do what you want at the training ground but it’s the matches that count.
“We’re just happy to be in the semi-finals. It’s not really sunk in yet so to think about the next round is a bit much at the moment.”
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
