Luke: Ledley's king

Posted on 16 March 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Luke Young has tipped Ledley King for the very top.

The England Under-21 defender is back at the Lane on Monday for the first time since departing for Charlton Athletic in the summer.

Luke, who played 76 times for us between 1998-2001, has been delighted with how his former team-mate has progressed this season.

"The young lads have been given a chance and it's great to see," said Luke, who came through the youth and reserve system alongside Ledley. "And Ledley just seems to get stronger and stronger.

"We always said that if he managed to stay fit and stay in the side he would show what he was capable of. He's had that chance and taken it.

"We go back to the Under-19s and reserves at Spurs and I knew then about Ledley's ability.

"The only shame is that he made one mistake in the Worthington Cup Final and people are talking about that at the moment when he's been different class week in, week out.

"I'm sure he'll be even stronger for that and I believe he can go all the way to the top. It would be nice to see him do just that."

Look out for more from Luke tomorrow
