The versatile defender has been ruled out of action for over a month since damaging his foot initially against West Ham before aggravating it against Manchester City.
Young has only been able to rest the problem since then but was back out kicking a ball with the reserve squad at Spurs Lodge on Monday and is now pencilled in for a return against Southampton at the Lane (7pm).
Manager Chris Hughton has strong squad to choose from — only striker Chris Armstrong (hamstring) may miss out.
Hughton said: “We have a fair mixture again. It will be nice to see players like Anthony Gardner, Luke Young, who has been out for a few weeks and Ledley King out there.
“Anthony Thelwell, who has been with the first team recently, a few international boys like Gary Doherty, Ciaran Toner and Simon Davies, Matthew Etherington, Stephen Clemence and it’s another game for Willem Korsten.
“It’s a strong team on paper but it’s about the performance that you put in. It doesn’t matter what team we have, we’ll make an assessment at the end of the game and will have either been good enough or not.”
Luke Young may return to action for the reserves on Tuesday night.
