Luka Modric has thanked fans for the heart-warming reception he was given on making his long-awaited return from injury in our defeat against Wolves at the Lane on Saturday.
The midfielder came on as a second half substitute to make his first senior appearance since sustaining a fractured fibula in our win over Birmingham back in August.
His introduction was greeted with a standing ovation from our supporters, and although Luka was grateful for this, he could not hide his overall disappointment with how the afternoon panned out.
The Croatian said: "The reception the fans gave me when I came on meant a lot to me. They have been great and I want to thank them for that.
"I'm glad to be back but overall I'm disappointed because we lost the game. Now we just need to turn it around and win on Wednesday."
This is when we take on fellow top four hopefuls Manchester City at the Lane as we look to bounce back from the disappointment of Saturday's 1-0 defeat.
And Luka also hopes the game will provide him with the opportunity to continue his comeback from an injury that has blighted his first half of the season.
He added: "Three months is a long time and it's going to be difficult when you come back. I just need to take it step by step and hopefully I will be back to how I was before the injury very soon.
"It's always better when you've got another game soon after a defeat because you can recover straight away. Hopefully we will play better than we did on Saturday."
