Local school successful in funding bid!

THANK YOU FOR THE VOTES!

We are delighted to announce Durants School are successful recipients of £60,000 worth of Jubilee People’s Millions funding following a nationwide vote on Wednesday.

Throughout the week, with the help of legendary former captain Gary Mabbutt, we have called upon fans to help the Club in getting behind this worthwhile local cause.

Durants School in Enfield is a special school for children with Autism and other complex needs aged between 5 and 19. The Club already has a relationship with the school through the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which has seen the Foundation provide pupils with life skills workshops.

The children requested a garden where they could play and submitted a bid to the Jubilee People’s Millions - a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund, in partnership with ITV, awarding up to £60,000 to four projects in each of the 15 ITV regional news areas.

The school, which is situated in an urban area of Enfield, has very little green space, and with the support of the local community is aiming to transform an overgrown piece of school land into a sensory and social garden for the children and their families.

The garden will be for all children but with the needs of the autistic child at the forefront. This area will enable families to come together and play in a safe and secure environment without the child with special needs being excluded from other children.

Peter de Rosa, Headteacher, Durants School, said: “Thanks to all the fabulous fans at Spurs for the support you gave Durants School. Your help has enabled us to win £60,000 so that we can set up a new sensory garden for all the autistic community in Enfield.”

Syliva Hart, Chair of Governors at Durants, said: “We would like to thank all the Tottenham Hotspur fans for joining our campaign and voting for us. You have helped make an amazing thing happen for us.”

Eddi Banks, who led on the project, said: “Everyone at Durants is absolutely delighted with the result. A true community triumph!”

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our fans for your tremendous support in helping us get behind the appeal.
