Loan watch

Oscar Jansson made his full league debut for Exeter City on Saturday.

It was an eventful afternoon for the 18-year-old goalkeeper as the Grecians lost 3-0 at Gillingham in League One.

He had to face a penalty within five minutes and guessed the right way but could little about Simeon Jackson's strike.

In the second half, defender Richard Duffy left a headed backpass short to allow Jackson to make it 2-0 and Oscar then did well to prevent Jackson's hat-trick by tipping wide at full stretch. He could do nothing about the home side's third though as Exeter made the long journey home with nothing.

Troy Archibald-Henville also played the full 90 minutes for Exeter.

It wasn't the best of days for our trio of loan lads at Yeovil - Steven Caulker, Ryan Mason and Jon Obika all played 90 minutes as the Glovers lost 1-0 at home to Swindon in League One.

Staying in League One, Andros Townsend saw his chance to open the scoring for Leyton Orient at Southend denied by keeper Steve Mildenhall and Southend went on to win 3-0 on Friday night - former Spur Lee Barnard grabbed a hat-trick.

In League Two, David Button was back in goal for Crewe after making his full Spurs debut against Doncaster in the Carling Cup. Alex beat Macclesfield 2-1 and David made one fine save from Ross Draper.

Sam Cox was an unused substitute as Cheltenham drew 1-1 against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Finally, goalkeeper Lee Butcher earned rave reviews after helping Grays preserve a precious point against high-flying Mansfield in the Blue Square Premier. The teams drew 1-1 at the New Rec and Lee made three fine saves in last 15 minutes.

MASON WINS AWARD

Ryan Mason won Yeovil's Player of the Month for August, as voted for by Yeovil fans on the 'prideofsomeset' website.

He narrowly beat fellow Spurs loanee Steven Caulker to the award.
