In the Championship, Andros Townsend is now preparing for a play-off showdown over two legs for Birmingham against Blackpool after Saturday's 2-0 win against champions Reading secured fourth place.

Steven Caulker was involved in a thriller but wouldn't have enjoyed it too much as his Swansea side were pegged back from 3-0 and 4-1 up by Wolves, who rescued a 4-4 draw.

Kyle Naughton played 90 minutes as Norwich were taken apart by Luis Suarez, who scored a superb hat-trick in Liverpool's 3-0 win at Carrow Road.

Jon Obika's match ended early because of injury as Yeovil beat Chesterfield 3-2 in League One while in Scotland, Kudus Oyenuga was an unused substitute as St Johnstone lost 5-1 at Motherwell.

Away from the UK, Vedran Corluka played 83 minutes as Bayer Leverkusen beat Hannover 1-0 in the Bundesliga and Simon Dawkins played a full shift as San Jose Earthquakes held onto top spot in the Western Conference of the MLS with a late 2-1 win against Philadelphia Union.

Finally in Dublin, Oscar Jansson's Shamrock Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by Derry in the Airtricity League.
