Simon Dawkins helped San Jose Earthquakes win the 'California Clasico' in amazing style on Wednesday night.

Loan watch

The versatile midfielder/forward currently on loan at Earthquakes played the full 90 minutes as his team came from 2-0 down with 15 minutes remaining to topple reigning champions LA Galaxy 3-2 at the Home Depot Center.

Galaxy - who we play on our US tour this summer - took an early lead but were hit by the dismissal of goalscorer Hector Jiminez on the hour.

However, they soon doubled their lead when David Beckham released Mike Magee to finish well.

Earthquakes, with Simon playing on the left side of midfield, kick-started their comeback through Steven Lenhart on 76 minutes.

They levelled five minutes later when Beckham handled in the box and Khari Stephenson slotted home from the penalty spot.

As the game ticked into added time, Alan Gordon took advantage of defensive hesitancy in the Galaxy ranks to nod home a long ball for victory.

The result took Earthquakes back to the top of the Western Conference in the MLS with New York Red Bulls, who we also play on tour, top of the Eastern Conference.

Simon has now started Earthquakes' last seven matches, playing the full 90 in five.
