Loan watch - Tom and Shaq on target

Tom Carroll scored his first goal for Swansea City in their 6-2 FA Cup third round victory at Tranmere on Saturday.

Our on-loan midfielder set up Nathan Dyer to open the scoring in the first half, before firing in a classy second for his side four minutes into the second period.

The England Under-21 international completed the full 90 minutes at Prenton Park, having been an unused substitute in last week’s 4-1 defeat at Liverpool and 1-1 draw at Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League.

Shaq Coulthirst was also on target at the weekend, scoring Southend United’s goal in their 1-1 draw at Northampton Town in the same competition.

The forward netted from close range two minutes into the second half, but the Shrimpers’ League Two rivals later equalised to force a replay. Shaq was substituted with seven minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, Milos Veljkovic went on as a substitute within the first five minutes of Middlesbrough’s FA Cup trip to Barnsley following an injury to Rhys Williams – the defensive midfielder helping Boro book their place in the fourth round with a 2-0 win.

Elsewhere, we have mutually agreed to end Grant Hall's loan at Birmingham City. The defender has made nine appearances in all competitions for the Blues since the start of the season.
